Chalk art workshop

The Sandhills Institute invited nationally recognized chalk artist, Jennifer Richardson, from Nashville, Tennessee to Rushville, Nebraska to create a chalk mural with the help of the local community. The mural was to be a cow portrait in chalk, based on a painting called Curious Cow by artist Carolee Vitaletti. This was done during the Fun Days Festival.

Prior to Fun Days, Jennifer came to Rushville and Gordon to do chalk art workshops both with the local high school and elementary school. Many of the kids showed up the next day to make a drawing of their own or to help Jennifer complete the cow portrait.

It was such a success that the Sandhills Institute hopes to invite her back to Rushville to do workshops and a mural again, soon.  We are thinking it could be a great place for a chalk art competition right here on Main Street.

Special thanks to: EFG Foundation, Sandhills Institute, Gordon Rushville School System and the Rushville Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring Fun Days.
